K-LAVA SALT, the nine-times baked bamboo salt, is now proven to have an anti-aging effect on the skin.
Hamyang, Korea South, 20th Jul 2023 – The astonishing anti-aging benefits of Korean bamboo salt have been made clear by a groundbreaking study by eminent scientists. Purified salt, sun salt, solar bath salt, Masada solar salt, one-time baked bamboo salt, and nine-times baked bamboo salt were among the salts whose effects on the skin were the subject of the study.
The study discovered that K-Lava Salt has the highest concentration of antioxidant components and properties compared to other salts through a thorough investigation of mineral elements, pH levels, OH groups, and redox potential.
The 9x bamboo salt showed the highest ability to reduce oxidative damage from hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) treatment in vitro tests on HaCaT keratinocytes among the salts in the study. Its anti-aging properties outperformed those of the other salts examined. Compared to the control and other salt-treated groups, the 9x bamboo salt and 1 bamboo salt-treated groups displayed thinner epidermal thickness, well-preserved sebaceous glands, and higher dermal collagen and elastic fiber content.
Further analysis showcased that the activities of skin antioxidant-related enzymes, superoxide dismutase (SOD), and catalase (CAT), were higher in the 9× bamboo salt- and 1× bamboo salt-treated groups compared to other groups, resembling levels observed in the standard group. Conversely, lipid peroxide (LPO) activity and carbonylated protein levels showed opposite trends. The 9× bamboo salt- and 1× bamboo salt-treated groups exhibited protein contents similar to the standard group.
The study further revealed that 9× bamboo salt and 1× bamboo salt effectively down-regulated the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) while up-regulating the expression of tissue inhibitor expression of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1), matrix metalloproteinase-2 (TIMP-2), SOD, and CAT compared to other salts at a concentration of 0.2% (p < 0.05).
These groundbreaking findings suggest that when applied at appropriate concentrations, the Korean bamboo salt could effectively prevent skin aging induced by UVB photodamage. The study’s findings give up new opportunities for utilizing bamboo salt’s potential in creating cutting-edge skincare products.
