The Marginalia collection, described as “quarterly couture” by creative director Jiayi Che, reinterprets Western fashion from the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance through a fresh, modern lens. Comprised of six looks and thirteen distinct clothing styles, along with accessories including jewelry and headpieces, the collection showcases the perfect balance of historical inspiration and contemporary practicality.
“With Marginalia, we’re telling a story about the evolution of fashion and identity. Each piece reinterprets historical motifs with a modern sensibility, making the collection both innovative and deeply rooted in tradition,” said Jiayi Che, founder and creative director of Scoliosy.
The collection incorporates intricate craftsmanship, from lace and patterned leather to burnt velvet and 3D-printed jewelry, inspired by Antoni Gaudí’s architectural works. Highlights include a traditional blue lace henin, modernized interpretations of hourglass silhouettes, and medieval knight-inspired leather jackets featuring exaggerated, rounded shoulders. The designs challenge conventional beauty ideals, incorporating unique features such as humped backs and sloped shoulders, influenced by medieval portraiture and modern posture correction devices. Scoliosy’s meticulous attention to detail and fabric choice embodies the brand’s commitment to merging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.
