A Tale of Two Paths: The Journey of Dirty Deed’s Landscaping and Ricardo Trejo

Dirty Deed’s Lawn & Landscaping, LLC, founded by Adam Nichols in 2015, has steadily earned its reputation for quality craftsmanship and client satisfaction in Lemont, Homer Glen, Lockport, Joliet, Crest Hill, and Shorewood. While the company’s story is one of hard work and perseverance, its growth accelerated in 2020 with the addition of Ricardo Trejo—an employee whose leadership and dedication have shaped the company’s success.

United States, 25th Jan 2025 – Nichols started the business with over a decade of hands-on experience and a degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana. In its early years, the company faced significant challenges. Nichols worked long hours without a team to rely on, juggling client demands with the complexities of managing a growing business. Everything changed when Trejo joined the company, bringing with him a wealth of experience and an inspiring personal story.

Trejo’s journey began in a small town in Mexico, where he started working at the age of 11 to help support his family. Inspired by stories of landscaping opportunities in the United States, Trejo applied for an H2B visa—a temporary work program for skilled foreign laborers—with encouragement from his mother. His arrival in the Chicago suburbs marked the start of a new chapter.

For 11 years, Trejo honed his skills in landscaping and snow removal, earning a reputation for dependability and professionalism. When he joined Dirty Deed’s Lawn & Landscaping, LLC, his impact was immediate. Trejo quickly assumed a leadership role, enabling Nichols to focus on scaling the business while ensuring field operations were executed with precision.

Trejo’s expertise and strong work ethic not only improved the quality of the company’s work but also helped address staffing challenges. In 2021, Trejo played a vital role in successfully navigating the complexities of the H2B visa program to recruit additional skilled workers. This milestone allowed the company to meet increasing client demand while maintaining high standards of service.

“Ricardo has been instrumental in fostering a culture of excellence and dedication,” Nichols said. “His ability to mentor others and lead by example has been invaluable to our growth.”

Trejo’s leadership has also contributed to the company’s recognition within the industry. Dirty Deed’s Lawn & Landscaping has received several awards in recent years, a reflection of its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. Nichols credits much of this success to the strong team Trejo has helped build.

For Trejo, his role at Dirty Deed’s is not just about work—it’s about making a difference. Despite the hardships he faced growing up, he remains deeply committed to his family and his future aspirations. One of his goals is to teach landscaping classes to inspire others to pursue opportunities in the field. His story serves as a testament to the power of hard work, adaptability, and perseverance.

As Dirty Deed’s Lawn & Landscaping looks to the future, the company remains dedicated to creating beautiful, innovative landscapes while celebrating the contributions of individuals like Trejo, whose leadership and vision have left a lasting impact.
