Scientology Volunteer Ministers mobilized quickly, cleaning over 120 buildings and helping 200 families return home in under two weeks. For their incredible 3,000+ volunteer hours and dedication, they were honored at the G Awards in Prague. Recognition at the G Awards

The G Award honors patrons and benefactors in culture, charity, science, education, and moral values across the Czech Republic. It highlights acts of generosity that inspire others. On Wednesday, January 8, 2024, the 24th annual G Awards ceremony took place at the National Theatre in Prague.

At the ceremony, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers received recognition for their extraordinary work after the floods. They cleaned over 120 buildings in less than two weeks, offered spiritual and emotional support, and helped approximately 200 families return home sooner. Collectively, they contributed more than 3,000 volunteer hours.

David Macoun, who led over 120 Volunteer Ministers, received the award in the “Life and People” category. Under his guidance, the group restored access to over 1,000 homes and provided comfort to the affected communities. Macoun explained that their success was inspired by L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology’s founder: “If someone dislikes the crime, cruelty, injustice, and violence in society, they can act. They can become a Volunteer Minister and bring conscience, kindness, love, and relief from suffering.” Richard Langer, founder of the G Awards, praised the volunteers’ dedication: “These individuals come from diverse professions—entrepreneurs, healthcare workers, teachers, and more—but they are united by their commitment to helping others.”

Local Impact of The Yellow Angels

Locally, the volunteers are known as the “Yellow Angels” for their distinctive yellow shirts, hats, and jackets. Residents of Pisecna and Nova Ves warmly welcomed them. The volunteers provided emotional and spiritual support, including “assists,” a form of individualized help rooted in Scientology principles that helps people cope with difficult situations.

Their contributions also earned them the Public Choice Award, reflecting widespread public appreciation. Ivan Arjona, Scientology’s EU and UN representative, commented: “Recognition at the G Awards reflects not just the volunteers’ efforts in Jeseníky but also the universal values of compassion and service. This award shows what individuals can achieve when they unite to help those in need.”

Scientology Volunteers Promote Humanitarianism

Michael Kurdík, one of the group’s leaders, shared their philosophy during his acceptance speech: “It is our mission to help and show that something can be done. Helping others is natural. No matter where you come from or who you are, we are all human beings and should help one another. That’s what a functioning society does.”

The Volunteer Minister Program started over 30 years ago after L. Ron Hubbard called on people to address declining ethics and morality in society. He emphasized: “If someone dislikes the crime, cruelty, injustice, and violence in society, they can act. They can become a Volunteer Minister and help civilize society by bringing conscience, kindness, love, and relief from suffering.”

Through their dedication, the Scientology Volunteer Ministers demonstrate the power of collective goodwill and resilience. Their actions set an inspiring example of humanitarian service.
