Global Work AI Survey 72% of Remote Job Seekers Are Frustrated by Being Ghosted by Recruiters
A new Global Work AI survey shows that 72% of remote job seekers feel frustrated by recruiter ghosting. The results highlight growing stress as long hiring timelines clash with urgent financial needs.
Growing Discontent in Remote Hiring
Global Work AI, an AI-driven job platform for remote workers, released survey results revealing that seven in ten Americans searching for remote jobs feel both frustrated and desperate. About 72% blamed recruiter ghosting as their main source of frustration. The same number said they were dissatisfied with today’s overall job-hunting process.
Although the average hiring period in 2025 lasts about 44 days, most remote applicants expect much longer waits. Nearly 96% of respondents believe their search will take more than a month. Meanwhile, 39% don’t expect to find work within six months, yet over half need jobs in less than 30 days. This growing gap is driving stress and financial pressure.
Financial Pressure and Motivation
Over a third of participants described themselves as “survivors”—people urgently seeking income due to financial hardship. For most, earning money is the top motivation, followed by remote opportunities and flexible schedules. Interestingly, career growth ranked only eighth in their list of priorities.
Gen Z and millennials form the majority of remote job seekers. About 56% of respondents were between ages 25 and 44, representing early to mid-career professionals. Younger workers value flexibility the most, while older professionals view remote jobs as a path to financial security.
Social Media’s Expanding Role
This younger demographic also explains why social media plays a leading role in modern job searches. LinkedIn dominates the landscape, used by 78% of respondents to find new opportunities.
Moreover, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn now double as learning hubs. More than half of job seekers 56%, use these platforms to get career tips, interview advice, and job-search strategies.
AI Skills and Trust Levels
Artificial intelligence is transforming the way people hunt for jobs. However, opinions remain divided. About 47% of respondents said they have little trust in AI, while 44% said they mostly trust it.
Even with mixed feelings, more than six in ten rated their AI skills as intermediate or higher. This suggests that most remote job seekers are confident in using technology to boost their search efficiency.
Emotional Resilience and Hope
Finding the right job remains emotionally demanding and time-consuming, often requiring hours of daily effort. Yet, despite the challenges, 71% of job seekers said they believe the right opportunity will eventually appear. Many credited small wins like interview invitations, and emotional support from loved ones for keeping their motivation strong.
