ITU Hosts Diplomatic Briefing on Upcoming WTDC-25 Conference in Baku
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) convened a diplomatic briefing at its Geneva headquarters this week, bringing together representatives from UN missions and the broader international community to discuss preparations for the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25).
ITU Prepares for WTDC-25
Azerbaijan, 12th Nov 2025 – The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) held a diplomatic briefing this week at its Geneva headquarters. The event brought together representatives from UN missions and the international community to discuss preparations for the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-25).

ITU Secretary-General Doreen Bogdan-Martin led the session along with BDT Director Dr. Cosmas Luckyson Zavazava and H.E. Galib Israfilov, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva. The briefing emphasized collaboration and detailed planning for the upcoming conference.
Advancing Global Digital Connectivity
The WTDC-25 will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 17-28, 2025. It will focus on promoting universal, meaningful, and affordable connectivity to build an inclusive and sustainable digital future. Policymakers, industry leaders, and development experts from around the world are expected to attend.
During the briefing, delegates reviewed practical arrangements for the conference. These included registration procedures, accommodation options, transportation logistics, and sustainability initiatives. Additionally, the ITU highlighted steps to ensure smooth operations and engagement during the event.
Streamlined Travel and Collaboration
Attendees were informed that obtaining travel authorization is simple. Electronic visas are available through Azerbaijan’s official portal (evisa.gov.az) within three business days. Moreover, visa-on-arrival services will also be provided for convenience.
The ITU leadership praised the Government of Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport for their ongoing support. Their collaborative efforts will help guarantee a successful and well-organized WTDC-25.
