Matsu National Scenic Area Announces Laser-Tag Tunnel Experience
The Matsu National Scenic Area Headquarters will organize a laser-tag experience in defined wartime tunnel locations in Nangan from 13 to 26 September 2025, which is an interpretive, site-based activity centered on local heritage. With summer fading, Matsu National Scenic Area will shortly host this thrilling and safe sporting event. Most famous for its historical wartime heritage, Matsu’s tunnels, military fortifications, and cliff-and-sea landscapes create a source of tourism unlike anywhere else. To enable tourists to feel this wartime spirit in an even more lively and exciting way, the Headquarters is introducing the Laser Survival Game as a series of “Glimmer in Matsu” events. Laser tag employs infrared sensing technology to create a safe, harmless, real-world simulation of combat. Guests are encouraged to discover Matsu’s distinctive cultural environments in an educational and engaging laser tag experience. Participants need to sign up on the internet, and participation is entirely free, though registration should be done as early as possible.
Three Themed Paths for Immersive Adventure
The Laser Survival Game has three themed experience paths. Following registration at the Nangan Visitor Center, gamers can start the Wartime Puzzle Quest, discovering Matsu’s wartime past step by step through game quests. At Guang Mao Shan, players will experience Team Shouting and Stationary Target Shooting, recreating images of old troop training in a wartime fort. Every afternoon from 1:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m., four rounds of laser tag will be conducted at the Dahan Stronghold, where participants will venture into underground tunnels for live action battles. Equipped with sensor vests and laser guns, participants will play different game modes and team competitions in the maze-like tunnel environment. Using tactical relocation and coordination, participants will compete for high scores, demonstrating strategic thinking and team coordination. Without live ammunition and without the decibels of loud gunfire, the game is a secure and intense setting in which players can really enjoy the competition without distraction.
A merger of Fun, Fitness, and Teamwork
Laser tag is not just a competitive game, it’s also a form of physical activity that enhances teamwork and real-time decision-making, says the Headquarters. It is for families, friends, and corporate team-building activities. By visiting Matsu’s military history sites and seashores, the attendees can witness in person how “military bases are turned into tourism attractions, and history sites are being converted into interactivity-based experiences.” Furthermore, all the attendees who finish the missions will be rewarded with a functional travel toiletry kit as a gift. The Headquarters invites everyone to sign up and participate in this extraordinary event.
Future Beigan Bishan Sunrise Festival
Meanwhile, the Headquarters has also announced the new “Beigan Bishan Sunrise” event on January 1, 2026. This time, visitors will be encouraged to trek up Bishan, the tallest mountain in Matsu at 298 meters above sea level, to greet the dawn of the new year. From the action-packed Laser Survival Game to the symbolic and optimistic Bishan Sunrise, Matsu is bringing a range of innovative experiences that encourage individuals to revisit the island’s war history and natural wonder, setting the stage for Matsu to be a holistic tourist destination integrating history, culture, and natural wonders.
