Newzealandeta Launches Visa Service For Us, Poland, European Citizens

United States, 3rd Jan 2025 – New Zealand’s International Visitor Levy (IVL) is a $35 fee imposed on most foreign visitors to help fund tourism and conservation efforts. This non-refundable tax applies to international tourists needing a visa or NZeTA for entry. US, European, and Polish citizens must obtain a New Zealand eTA (NZeTA) for short visits, valid for multiple entries over two years. Documents required include a valid passport, payment method, and email address.

IVL FEES FOR NEW ZEALAND

The amount of international travelers arriving in New Zealand has increased significantly, reaching a peak. This rise in visitors is adversely affecting New Zealand’s infrastructure, environment, communities, and the societal acceptance of tourism in certain areas. The resurgence of tourists poses a major concern once more as travelers return following the pandemic. Most international guests to New Zealand are required to obtain a $35 International Visitor Licence (IVL). The purpose of the IVL is to address existing challenges within the tourism and conservation sectors. The International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) ensures that tourists in New Zealand contribute to initiatives that support the nation’s tourism and conservation endeavors. It aids in making tourism in New Zealand more sustainable while benefiting both the nation and its residents. The IVL funds are allocated fairly between tourism and conservation initiatives to encourage investments that foster profitable, sustainable, and inclusive tourism growth while also protecting and enhancing our environment. Most international tourists who apply for a visa/NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) to enter New Zealand must pay a $35 non-refundable tax. This comprises visas for vacation (including working holiday schemes), student visas, and short-term work visas. It is collected through the immigration system, with visitors paying the IVL in addition to their visa or NZeTA payments.

NEW ZEALAND VISA FOR US CITIZENS

Residents from around 190 countries, including those from the US, are eligible to apply for the New Zealand eTA. For US citizens, the application process for a New Zealand eTA is quick and straightforward. Launched in 2019, the NZeTA, or New Zealand eTA for Americans, permits qualified individuals to visit New Zealand for purposes such as transit, tourism, or business. Americans who plan to visit New Zealand for a short duration need to have a valid eTA that is electronically connected to their passport. The New Zealand eTA is valid for two years from the date it is issued. Citizens of the United States can remain in New Zealand for a maximum of 3 months with their Electronic Travel Authority (eTA). Given that the New Zealand eTA is a multiple entry eVisa waiver, individuals can visit New Zealand on several occasions within the two-year validity timeframe. To apply for a New Zealand ETA from the United States, US citizens must complete a short online application form that asks for the traveler’s personal and passport information. Once approved, US citizens will receive a copy of their New Zealand eTA to the email address provided in the application form.

Documents Required for US Citizens

  • A passport that is valid for at least three months from the planned date of arrival.
  • Arrival and departure dates.
  • To pay the appropriate eTA fees, you’ll need a valid credit or debit card.

  • A recent passport-style photograph of the applicant.

NEW ZEALAND VISA FOR EUROPEAN CITIZENS

In July 2019, the NZeTA enabled qualified citizens to visit New Zealand for tourism, business, or transit purposes without requiring a visa from the embassy. Citizens of the European Union are permitted to stay in New Zealand for up to three months visa-free if they hold an ETA. Prior to traveling to New Zealand for a short duration, obtaining a NZeTA is necessary. The NZeTA permits multiple entries for brief visits during its two-year validity. It is crucial to highlight that every EU citizen intending a short visit to New Zealand must secure an EU visa beforehand. A New Zealand Tourist ETA provides multiple entry visa exemptions for New Zealand and serves as a valid electronic document. European citizens can enjoy a six-month visa-free visit in New Zealand with the New Zealand visa. The requirements for an ETA for citizens of New Zealand visa-exempt countries are really simple. Applicants must complete the New Zealand eTA application form with personal and passport information.

Did you know that Polish travelers are required to receive electronic travel authorization? As of October 31, 2019, the New Zealand government has made a new electronic visa waiver compulsory for entry into several countries. Individuals from more than 190 nations, including Poland, can fulfill the criteria to apply for the New Zealand eTA.
