Message from O&L Group Executive Chairman
“All our visitors — whether local, African or international — deserve to be rewarded and encouraged through our new Programme. Leisure Club is our way of rewarding their choice and encouraging them to experience the unparalleled offerings of Namibia,” states Sven Theme, O&L Group Executive Chairman and Managing Director of O&L Leisure. “Since tourism globally is projected to have hosted 1.4 billion visitors in 2024, we aim to put Namibia on the top list of destinations that increasing numbers of people will organize their ultimate vacations to help fuel the growth of our nation’s booming tourism sector.”

Apart from showing appreciation to travelers, the Leisure Club program works directly in favor of the country’s positive way under the Namibian government. “By getting people to visit and increasing the occupancy rates of our properties, we are directly adding to the creation of employment and stimulating economic activity in local communities.”. Our ongoing commitment to sustainability initiatives, such as our conservation of indigenous knowledge through our engagement with the Hai//om people, the work of conservation at the Mokuti Etosha reptile park and the ongoing developments across our portfolio – frequently using local construction firms – are all further proofs of our dedication to responsible and meaningful tourism development.

High Tourist Arrivals Strengthen Launch Timing
The launch of Leisure Club comes at a propitious time as Namibia continues to post high tourist appearances. In 2023, the African market was the prime source of growth and accounted for a whopping 71.8% of all tourist arrivals, with neighboring SADC countries contributing especially well that underscores Namibia’s ongoing strength as a regional holiday destination. Europe contributed 21.5% of visitors, indicating Namibia’s continued allure with international visitors to date, and the American market of 4.0% has huge potential for expansion in the future.*

Rewarding Diverse Visitor Markets
“Diversity of our visitor market is phenomenal,” says Theme. “The Leisure Club is opened to embrace and reward all these visitors, whether traveling through our territories for the first time or coming back to reconnect with family and friends.” The remarkable 87.4% growth in international tourists in 2023, at 863,872 and the industry’s 6.9% contribution to GDP highlight the key role that tourism plays in the prosperity of Namibia. As a whole, Namibia’s tourism industry is demonstrating marvelous strength and growth, employing over 100,000 Namibians directly and being the pillar of Namibia’s national economy.
Contribution Toward Vision 2030
“O&L Leisure, via the Leisure Club, is proud to be a contributing partner in this success story, anxiously anticipating welcoming even more visitors to experience the unique beauty and hospitality of Namibia – from our point of view. We are committed to our contribution towards the Government’s Vision 2030 achievements and making Namibia’s future in tourism sustainable and prosperous,” Theme said.
