A new analysis of public conversations on X (Twitter) suggests that Sinners is currently generating the largest share of online discussion in the US around potential Best Picture contenders for the 2026 Oscars Academy Awards.

The research, conducted using the special monitoring platform developed by Social Links, analyzed more than 13,900 English-language posts published between February 10 and March 1 in the US referencing films associated with the 2026 awards season.

After processing the dataset, Sinners emerged as by far the most frequently mentioned title, appearing in roughly 23.5% of all conversations discussing Best Picture contenders.

However, the broader Oscars conversation remains highly competitive. Two other films in the ranking  – One Battle After Another and Frankenstein – form a closely grouped second tier of discussion, each generating just over 13% of total mentions.

Another group of contenders – Sentimental ValueTrain Dreams, and Marty Supreme – also stands out, each generating roughly comparable shares of discussion at around 9–11%.

Social Links notes that social media discussion should not be interpreted as a direct indicator of Academy voting outcomes. Such patterns are typical of awards-season discourse, where social media conversations often react quickly to interviews, reviews, marketing campaigns, and fan-driven debate. But offer insight into how online conversations may mirror broader public opinion.

“Online attention reflects immediacy, media cycles, and audience engagement rather than voting intent,” said Ivan Shkvarun, CEO of Social Links. “However, these signals offer a valuable snapshot of how public narratives evolve around major cultural events – and how such conversations can later be used or interpreted in different ways by various actors.”

About the research

The study combines automated natural language processing within the AI Defender digital monitoring framework with title-level analysis of publicly available posts on X.  The system is built as an AI pipeline framework. Incoming data passes through multiple layers of AI models, each responsible for a specific task – such as filtering irrelevant content, contextual analysis, or signal scoring. The system uses about 10 models overall, with each stream running 5-6 different LLMs. At every stage, the model best suited for that task is selected to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

This multi-stage approach allows the system to progressively refine the data, transforming large volumes of raw social media activity into structured, actionable signals.
