Sino-European Excellent Quality Forum & SDLG’s Sixth Anniversary Celebration of Winning the EFQM Award Successfully Concluded in Linyi, Shandong

Linyi City, China, 5th Nov 2025 — On October 29, 2025, a grand intellectual feast representing the highest standards of Sino-European quality management — the Sino-European Excellent Quality Forum & SDLG’s Sixth Anniversary Celebration of Winning the EFQM Award — was held in Linyi, Shandong. The event served as both a prestigious gathering and a top-level China-Europe dialogue on quality management. The forum, themed “Pioneering Excellence, Winning the Future with Quality,” brought together leaders from government, industry, academia, and research. More than 160 representatives from leading domestic and international enterprises attended. They came together to celebrate the sixth anniversary of SDLG’s EFQM Global Excellence Certification, exchange ideas on quality, discuss development paths, and envision future growth.

In 2019, SDLG earned the EFQM Global Excellence Award with the highest Seven-Star rating, becoming the first company in China’s construction machinery sector to receive this honor. In his opening remarks, Chairman Wang Zhizhong reflected on this six-year journey. He emphasized that “quality is SDLG’s passport to the world.” He noted that SDLG has embedded the EFQM Model across R&D, manufacturing, and service while driving innovation, accelerating globalization, and maintaining steady growth in challenging environments.

Second, amid growing industry homogenization, the forum sent a strong message: “No matter how fierce the competition becomes, quality and brand must never be compromised.”

Third, following SDLG’s separation from Volvo CE, the forum became a platform to reaffirm SDLG’s commitment to advancing quality management and brand strength while working toward its “100-billion-yuan goal.” Wen added, “A customer lost due to poor quality will never return, but one lost due to price may come back.”

During the keynote session, experts from multiple sectors discussed modernizing traditional manufacturing, strengthening continuous improvement, and applying total quality management (TQM) in real-world operations.

Innovation And Intelligent Manufacturing

As a recognized quality benchmark in China’s construction machinery industry, SDLG continues to promote innovation. Vice General Manager Lin Yuecun delivered a keynote titled “Building on Quality, Leading Toward Excellence,” outlining SDLG’s comprehensive quality philosophy and the closed-loop management system developed over the past six years. This system links strategy, operations, and outcomes and has helped SDLG progress from “manufacturing” to “intelligent manufacturing.”

SDLG has upgraded automation in four major production stages: welding, machining, assembly, and logistics. Welding automation has reached 85%. Excavator assembly automation stands at 20%, while some final assembly lines operate at up to 77% automation. Key machining lines now run unmanned around the clock, significantly improving efficiency and consistency.

Mr. Lin emphasized that SDLG’s “All Involve In” innovation model has strengthened organizational culture and placed SDLG among the top performers in Volvo’s global factory audits.

SDLG has also advanced digital transformation by building a management cockpit, a digital quality platform, and an intelligent service center. These tools enable end-to-end data-driven operations, shifting quality control from after-the-fact inspection to proactive prediction. The Sino-European Excellence Quality Dialogue became the highlight of the forum. Experts explored how the EFQM Model integrates with Chinese enterprise practices and discussed challenges and opportunities in globalizing China’s manufacturing strength. Representatives agreed that China’s manufacturing sector is shifting from exporting products to exporting standards and management models. They observed intelligent welding lines, digital assembly workshops, smart logistics systems, and end-to-end quality control platforms — all demonstrating SDLG’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and strong quality culture. These achievements reflect more than fifty years of progress in Chinese manufacturing.
