Vuly Play Introduces a Comprehensive Guide to Choosing the Perfect Trampoline for Every Backyard

What Size Trampoline Is Right for You?

Thinking of getting a trampoline but aren’t too sure which size is right for you? Adding a trampoline to your backyard will provide you and your kids with boundless fun and intensive workouts, but seeing as they come in all shapes and sizes – from small rebound trampolines to high-performance Olympic trampolines – which one would be the perfect fit?

Well, it really just comes down to two important factors: who will be using it and how much space is there in your backyard. For example, if you want a trampoline suitable for adults, you’d need to buy one large enough and able to handle more weight. In this article, we’ll give you some advice on choosing a trampoline that’ll suit your yard perfectly!

Types of Trampolines to choose from and their sizes

When it comes to choosing a trampoline, the first thing you’ll want to decide is what shape you want and whether it’s a standard one or one that is built into the ground. The main shapes to choose from are rectangular and round. Then, it’s time to choose the size. Here are some sizes you can choose from with both shapes:

Round Trampolines

2.4m (Small) & 3m Round Trampolines (Medium)

Apart from rebound trampolines, which have a 1m circumference, round trampolines have two other standard sizes, 2.4m and 3m. These trampolines are a great starting size for your kids and can fit pretty well into a small yard. They’re just big enough to handle an adult and will definitely last your kid well until they leave home. Keep in mind, though, that while these trampolines are spacious, you should still let only one person jump on them at a time to reduce the risk of injury.

3.6m Round Trampolines (Large)

Considered the large option in the range of trampolines, a 3.6m 12ft trampoline is 60cm larger than the medium option above. While it may not seem like much, those extra 60cm give you a decent amount of space to jump and try new things. The extra size also makes this option more suitable for older or larger kids, especially because it can handle a little more weight. If your budget and yard space will allow it, we’d suggest going for the large trampoline.

4.5m Round Trampolines (X-Large)

If 60cm is always you to improve your jumping experience, then imagine what a whole extra meter would allow. The x-large trampolines measure about 4.5m and are perfect for families with multiple kids who are a little older. With this size trampoline, performing tricks and jumping with more than one person will be a breeze. Although, we do still caution you against jumping with multiple people.

Rectangular Trampolines

2.4-3m Rectangle Trampoline (Small)

A small rectangular trampoline is perfect for people with narrower yards. While their shape forces you to often jump or perform tricks in the same direction, it makes for a nice compact place to have fun in comparison to the round trampolines.

3.5m Rectangle Trampoline (Medium)

The same goes for the medium range of rectangular trampolines. However, the extra bit of length and width makes them more comfortable to jump on for older kids. The length also provides them with the opportunity to perform more tricks or even practice their gymnastic routines at home.

4m Rectangle Trampoline (Large)

For those more serious about gymnastics, a large one might suit you better. Large trampolines offer you a significant size increase that allows you the space to try daring tricks and maneuvers without hitting the springs on the other side. With a large trampoline, front and backflips can be done with ease without compromising the bounce. This size trampoline is also great for allowing multiple kids to ride it at the same time.

X-large or XX-large Rectangle Trampoline

To get an x-large or xx-large trampoline, your yard will need to have a decent amount of space. X-large trampolines require a person over a certain weight to produce a decent bounce. For that reason, these trampolines are better suited for older kids. We’d suggest getting this trampoline for kids that weigh over 70kgs at least. Likewise, the xx-large option is so big that it’s almost square. This trampoline is for advanced jumpers, adults, and families with multiple kids. It’s also extremely heavy, which means you’ll need to find a spot for it to go where you won’t have to move it often.

Trampolines this size have a ton of uses. They can be a great attraction and accessory for kids’ birthday parties and are even suitable for hosting gymnastic practices. Before you purchase a trampoline of this size, check that you have enough space in your yard. You don’t want to buy it and then have to return it because you haven’t got the space. Likewise, make sure that you’re able to assemble it as well. Larger trampolines might have more components on them, which can complicate the assembly process.

Final Thoughts

Get a trampoline and you can unlock the full potential of your backyard – we’re talking hours of fun! They give your children and their friends a fun and engaging place to play and serve as a great form of exercise – not to mention a way to burn off some energy. But before you buy a trampoline, consider how it’ll fit into your yard and what size or shape would be best.
