Sage 50cloud is a strong accounting solution for accountants and business owners that have accounting experience. It offers great features on a locally-installed platform that has the mobility of cloud software. Sage 50cloud also incorporates Microsoft Office 365 for a local, hard drive-based software that can share data via the cloud.
Sage 50cloud is quite expensive, especially when compared to competitors like QuickBooks. Adding additional users as well as some of Sage’s integrations and add-ons, such as Sage Payroll, Paya Payment Gateway, Microsoft Office, also add to the price.
Sage 50 is primarily desktop software with some cloud features, such as storing information on Sage Drive and accessing Sage account from another device, if Sage 50cloud has already been downloaded onto that device. Sage also has a learning curve as it is geared towards accountants and business owners with accounting backgrounds and has a somewhat outdated user interface.
QuickBooks has been around for over two decades, and has become a household name for bookkeepers and businesses to keep their finances organized. Geared towards small to medium-sized companies, it is used by over 29 million businesses, 80% of which are small business operations in the US.
QuickBooks has been regarded by many as an easier alternative to the advanced Sage 50cloud software with similar features and functionalities offered, but easier to use. Sage is known to host a steep learning curve and an arguably outdated UI that needs to be modernized, whereas QuickBooks is very user-friendly and has a more intuitive UI according to several users. When comparing Sage vs. QuickBooks in this way, QuickBooks Online largely includes the majority of Sage’s capabilities within their first two plans, Simple Start and Essentials. In addition, QuickBooks offers features that Sages does not provide in either of their plans, such as time tracking, bill pay and management, 1099 contractor management, and more.
E-Tech offers an industry-standard conversion service from Sage 50 to all versions of QuickBooks. The conversion service will audit the results to ensure all financial reports such as the Trial Balance, Profit and Loss, and Balance sheets in QuickBooks match the original Sage data precisely.
